About the Universidad de Granada

With more than 80,000 students, the University of Granada (UGR) is the fourth-largest university in Spain. As the leading university for both incoming and outgoing exchange students within Europe, the UGR is an active international gathering place; approximately 10% of undergraduates and 23% of postgraduate students at the UGR are international students. A population of 70,000 students, lecturers, and staff means that almost one of every three residents of the city of Granada works or studies at the university.

The CSU IP program is administered by full-time CSU staff based in Madrid but in contact with Granada students throughout the year. The program begins with an intensive Intensive Language Program (ILP) during the month of September. The ILP is a Spanish language and culture course focusing on grammar, composition and conversation, as well as an introduction to Spanish culture, history, customs, politics and society. Students take a language placement exam upon arrival to determine their Spanish language level.

During the fall and spring semesters, CSU IP students attend the Centro de Lenguas Modernas de la Universidad de Granada, where classes are offered to visiting international students. Courses at the Centro are taught in Spanish by Spaniards. CSU IP students take courses in Spanish language and literature as well as the humanities and social sciences. All students in Granada are required to enroll in at least one course offered by the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, typically during the spring semester.
